We created and managed a communications plan for a $250 million spin-off from a Fortune 1000 company.

A large global technology carve out needed to stand up operations on a tight timeline while maintaining a smooth transition with no business or sales disruptions. Moreover, they sell in a multi-tiered distribution channel and needed to reach multiple stakeholders including distributors, value-added resellers, end-users, and internal employees. This necessitated a carefully orchestrated communication plan to ensure messaging reaches the right audiences without creating confusion.

We worked with the management team to define the goals and timeline of the project, including interviewing nearly 20 function owners and stakeholders to understand all of the various communication requirements and timing. Based on this, we developed and managed a comprehensive communications strategy and timeline. This included a cadence of emails, supported by a central FAQ section on the company website. We also supplemented this plan with other creative measures, such as explanatory “How to” videos and webinars.

The company was successfully split off on time, and the communications plan helped ensure minimal unexpected business disruptions. The combination of email campaign, FAQs, videos, and webinars were successful in educating customers, partners, and distributors so they were ready to conduct business with the company on day one.

The communications plan needed structure
Client had a myriad of necessary communications and timing dependencies, but no central communication plan.
Verity brought structure to the communications
To solve this communications problem between the client’s various business functions and their partners, distributors, and customers, Verity developed a comprehensive communications plan to address the critical information the partners, distributors, and customers would need to know as the client completed its separation and began independent operations.
